actually, I usually like the sequals more but
Kingdom Hearts (though I wasn't sure at first and for a while I considered KH II better)
Ratchet and Clank 3 (up to the third game it was getting better but then it went a bit downhill. Now I don't know if ACIT (last game) or R&C 3 is the best)

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening/Special Edition is better than Devil May Cry 4 in pretty much every aspect minus graphics(obviously).

Ratchet and Clank 2 is still the best in the series.

The only game I would say this doesn't apply is Golden Sun.

I think Persona 3 FES just plain sucked compared to the first, sure you got answers but it was barely a game worth playing. Replaying the original story on the FES version with its few new features was nice, but The Answer part ruined it. If you take out all the battles you're forced to fight through each level you'd realize it was a very short game. It's as if they threw in the million levels to stretch the game out so it'd seem longer, like they didn't know how to fill in the gaps any other way. It really disappointed me.
