i always wonder how long certain people are going to be banned, whether it be from joy or because i would like to speak with them. is there a way to find out?

It depends how you look at the question. That is correct, however Teiku 5 wants to know about the ban details which is confidential information between the staff and the member who was banned. So basically that information is...

Contact them via email/IM/Facebook/Twitter whatever the fuck they have. If you can't contact them any of those ways, then you will just have to wait.
