"Hiding's no fun, we dont like our underlings so much as to give them all the joy of crushing you weaklings. Besides, coming out here means we can show off our good lucks you human bastard."
Though one couldn't see beyond the mask, the grin on Reiyne's face broke into an all out smile. Most of the lesser Darkloids accepted their fates after a short scuffle and most importantly, they did so quietly. This particular beast was as very confident in her abilities though. It was probably the first time that Reiyne had met a Darkloid with such a human-like emotion. There would be no time to think about the intricacies of Darkloid personality however.
In a second or two, bright HUD screens popped up within the helmet of the NLT armor. The micro-computer systems of each individual nano-machine which comprised the armor, combined to create an impressive supercomputer. A 1:1 representation of the visuals Reiyne was seeing with his own human eye was instantly recreated on screen. Besides the main view, smaller windows opened and positioned themselves in suitable places. They showed things like temperature, adrenaline levels, and other minute pieces of information that didn't need to be thought about at the moment.
As soon as everything was ready, the battle began. The female Darkloid immediately used an ability that set her apart from humans; she became invisible. While Reiyne could have used infrared vision to track her heat signature, there was no time to activate it especially since he had never used it before. Instead, instinctively, Reiyne bent his knees and crossed his arms in front of himself in a defensive position. If the Darkloid known as Dusk intended to be invisible then she was most likely launch the first attack. It only took a second to confirm that this thesis was indeed correct.
At that moment, Reiyne felt a strong impact that sent him sliding backwards. Thankfully, he was successful in blocking the hit but, it still had caused his entire body to be sent backwards a significant amount of feet. Digging his heels into the ground, the surprised veteran managed to slow himself and eventually come to a stop, now a fair distance away from his enemy. "Damn strong......yeah, you're strong as hell all right. To be expected of you mutated freaks though." Reiyne said. "However, you shouldn't look down on me either..."
Right as he said that, the sound of whirring echoed from the back of the NLT armor. Lightning surged around Reiyne's body and then eventually concentrated itself on his legs and feet. Only a half second later, Reiyne furiously pushed off of his left foot and charged foward. Using the contact from the strike earlier, the NLT's computer had completed a rough analysis of where the Darkloid woman should of been, despite her invisibility. It was able to achieve this by tracking the feint heat signature it captured when her limb had made contact. With enhancement from the suit, Reiyne's speed had been increased significantly and he used it to burst right back to the Darkloid enemy. Without pulling his fist back, Reiyne launched a right straight that cut through the air towards the point the computer had designated.
Hopefully, this point would lead to contact with the Darkloid and a successful attack in some capacity. If unsuccessful however, Reiyne had already constructed a rough back up plan. This being the NLT's first true field test, a certain level of improvisation had to be expected and Reiyne intended to fully take advantage of suit's capabilities.
