Apathy

Is it possible that I could not care less?
Life comes sprinting by, and all I can do is blink-
And it is gone- moments missed.

I cannot even find a reason to show my distress,
For life is simply too fleeting-
At least, that is how I seem to see things this day.

I know time is ticking by, ever so quickly!
But this is the trap of Apathy-
There is urgency, yet I cannot care enough to get the gum off my shoe.

As Apathy builds on my soles, it slows me to halt.
I want to scream, but I would rather fall asleep;
To get high off the fumes of a broken will

But I cannot find a reason to stand tall...
There goes my life...
It seems it is too late to start...

There is always tomorrow...
That is a lie-
Change your shoes and live your life!
For Apathy is nothing more than a chewed piece of gum.

Hmm.. I'm not sure how to respond to that. I would think life is moving too fast enough for us to enjoy.

It would be so simple if we had more hours so we could do what we would like to do, but we would have to use it for sleep and sleep is important.

This is deep poetry and it's making me think too hard. :3

Great poem, apathy is something I'm very much guilty of so this hits home.

It's something that I've been struggling with lately- and it's killing me.

The best counter I know that I can give to you as advice is to find something to fill the void it causes. Like spending time with friends or doing something you truly enjoy.
Trust me if you just sit and think on it...it'll grow worse. Might even add a little depression....

Hence why I wrote some poetry about it. That's why I chalked it up to a piece of gum :)

Life may be moving fast but, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it. Instead of worrying about the future, we should try new things and not give ourselves limits. That is what I believe this poem is saying to me. I've only begun to see this myself, since I thought I couldn't do anything and simply wait for greatness to be thrust upon me. Except that's not how the real world works. If I want to achieve something, to gain something out of life, I have to work for it and get it myself. A inspiring poem overall. :)
