Well, I haven't seen the part of KH where Kairi gives Sora her good luck charm, but,
I was thinking in KH2 in inventory once it switches to Sora, it should be in there automatically, and can't be deleted, like the munny pouch you obtain from Roxas.

Yeah, I've been doing a lot of thinking today.

Maybe, though Nomura already has the game structured like this for a reason.

Doesn't he use it for Oathkeeper, though?

So, it's a keychain, not an item.

Not me. I played KH2 first, finished it, so I didn't know what that was until I read about the scene. XD

That might be, but I found it too hard to see the charm on the end.
But then again, that might be the charm Namine` gave him.

It appears to be Sora's Crown Symbol.

Just cut off slightly.

I'd guess it's cause only a few items in the inventory have a little significance in the story that pop up later in the game (i.e. Roxas's crystal, Mansion picture, torn pages I guess, etc.) IMO.
There's nothing really special about it IMO until he takes it out at Twilight Town and actually decides to use it as a keychain again. Though I guess it could've been in the inventory up until he decides to pick up the Oathkeeper again.
