I haven't seen a thread like this, but if there is, my bad :/
Anyway I just wanted to bring up the subject of animal cruelty, as it's something I personally feel really strongly about.

Eh...I don't really know how i'm going to say this, but what, in your opinion, is the worst? (Sorry for making it sound so lame o_o) I think all animal cruelty and abuse is despicable, but some of these just came to my attention when i was checking my email...

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/stop-fox-pen-hunting
Fox pen hunting. Captured foxes and coyotes are thrown into confined spaces and then are torn apart by hound dogs, and it's a sport.

and this is quite a recent thing, I don't know if many of you have seen this:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/puerto-rico-pet-massacre
The puerto rico pet massacre. Countless pets were taken from people's homes and hurled off a bridge, with virtually no reasoning.

And there's a lot more, like saving the polar bears, seals, and stuff.

I just wanted to know your opinions on this, what you think about it, and which things you think needs more awareness raised for and so on. :)

It just isn't right, if your going to beat an animal half to death then don't get one, a dog that used to live up my street was kept outside all the time and with the weather in northern ireland i felt sorry for it, one day it escaped and came running to mine and it kept that up for ages, till the owners moved away. i dont know what happened the dog.

Those commericals always make me sad when they leave the dogs alone and never come back or when they beat them it makes me sick toi think of my dog in that situation

I see animal cruelty on tv sometime but I don't like to watch it cuz it brack my heart. I think like how can any one be that cruel to animals.

The same way that people are cruel to each other. In the past, and probably still currently, there are people that hurt others for their own pleasure. The term is sadism (the act of inflicting pain on others for one's own entertainment). Though the act is a horrible one, it's a fact of life. People will do things that we don't want them to, whether for the better or worse. We can't have a world that is 'pure' and 'innocent,' because we're all individuals with our own thoughts. What you may think is right, someone else may think is wrong and vice-versa.

My belief is there always needs a balance of the two; good and bad. However, this doesn't mean that people should just sit back and let it happen. Somethings do need to be changed for the better, and it's not gonna get done unless many people, not just one(though generally people follow a leader in these disputes), steps up to the plate and begins the necessary action to make a difference.

I am the one inside your veins.
I've heard about that, Rixam. That is horrible. Animal cruelty is one of the few things I can't handle.

Also, I found this a while back, on DeviantArt:

I'm not a good news writer, and my English is not the best, but I want to let you know this:

On a Hungarian cinema-Festival there was a short-movie which has the title "Hypocrite" in English (Álszent) and in one scene a little cat had been choked in bath. The scene is around 2 minutes long and it shows all the pain of the kitty, until death.

The director says that it's "artistic freedom", he can do anything for art, and he didn't cared about that it'd cause trouble for many people. And he said the cat was ill, so it'd have died. So far the movie was rewarded with money, the jury said that they believed it was a movie-effect, but it was the reality.

I cried one night when I heard this, I have cats too, I had a dog, parrots, and many pets, but I couldn't do this with them. It was hard to watch my parrots death, not to kill a cat.

We, Hungarians, want to do something against this horrible man, who did this cruelty! Maybe you can do something too.
And please don't watch it unless you feel yourself strong enough (I don't want to watch, it was enough to hear about it)

And here is a petition, maybe it can help:

Thank you for reading, and sorry if I caused any trouble!

I love how your view animal cruelty is only directed at domestic pets. I don't see you guys doing shit for the cows, chickens, lobsters, crabs, fish, or any other animal that is considered food in North America.

You know, I'm happy that in Vietnam, Korean and other countries located in China eat dogs. Shows you that they don't place certain animals over others like people do in North America.

Edit: Wow v_a, I also end up posting the same thing as you like right after you post. It's awesome because you post while I'm typing this stuff up.

As far as I can recall there is this retailer in New York who sells you cup kitties. They place kittens in a small cup soon after they're born because their bones and muscles are so quickly developing. What happens after time is that the cat's body grows to the shape of the cup, making it a novelty "Cat in a cup." Even taking the cat out of the cup, it'll retain it's shape. People who purchase such cats have to feed it daily through straw.

I'll link to it if I can find it.

It's either got to be a real small cup, or a tall thin one for that to happen.
