An idea I had...

Yes!
I know after my pseudo-absence and abandoning of the RP section, I understand if you guys hate me and/or want to crawl in a hole somewhere and leave properly, but, uh, I had an idea!

It's inspired by this new game coming out, 'Hyperdimension Neptunia', which to cut a long story short is about the most recent Console War between the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.
Personally, I'm not fond of the paticular direction SEGA has taken with the game, but the idea itself: namely, of a vast, LITERAL war between factions based on the Console Wars, using science and magic and treachery and super powers and stuff, is pretty awesome.

So this is my idea: we create a consistent world (with everyone chipping in ideas) with a sort of 'Newer Final Fantasy meets TRON' style aesthetic, filled with references and jokes and such, then we decide a generation (with each generation having its own war) and plan a plot and have a go at it, or something!

What does everyone think? I understand if everyone hates it for numerous reasons, but I personally think it's pretty cool. Opinions, OPINIONS.

Well, not something that I see often. The closest that I've ever seen has been games like Marvel vs. Capcom. I actually like this idea, so count me in. But I warn you now. Most of my knowledge with consoles rests with the PS2.

I've had an idea for the setting and possible plot...

Over the last thirty years, mankind has been changed by the discovery of rare devices called 'Imagination Drives'. These mysterious weapons 'connect' with individuals and seem to show up randomly. Every Drive behaves slightly differently, but they all bless the person they bond to with superhuman abilities, in the form of a special 'Drive Form' where in they take on a partially ethereal/mechanical appearance.

These Drives display different personalities to their owners and seem to have a great hatred towards certain other Imagination Drives, due to an unspoken history between them. Throughout all of this, the wielders are in control, but the personalities and ideas of the Drives constantly threaten to manipulate and control them, against their wishes. Ultimately, these individuals are valued by numerous organizations across the planet for their unique talents, which leads to further conflict.

It is now 2012, and the secret war between numerous groups as well as the individuals themselves threatens to tear the world apart...

Hmm. It does sound interesting. I'd definitely love to see the finished result, it's also fairly original, and I'm a sucker for original role plays.

Hmm... going along with the Imagination Drives idea, I can't help but feeling it'd become kind of like 'Highlander meets Power Rangers meets Mega Man, all while suffering from split personality disorder'.
But who knows, maybe it'd work. Anyway, perhaps the Drives weren't meant to appear on earth: it was some kind of accident, and now the aliens that built these devices have freaked out and are planning to invade?

Problem is, then it could very easily devolve into 'Ben 10 & Power Rangers, but grittier'.

A grittier Ben 10 I can handle. That needs to be beefed up to keep my interest anyways(the show that is). As for the Power Rangers part, I thought that was Kamen Rider. It's of the same style, only I've noticed that it's kinda common for some of the heroes to get killed.

Essentially, Grittier Ben 10 + Kamen Rider + Highlander + the Console War...
If everyone agrees it sounds okay, then we can start it up!
