Advice for a Little Fan Project

So I've been wanting to do this for a while now, and I think sometimes in the near future it's actually going to happen: I've been wanting to do little readings of novels, in the same vein as audiobooks.

The reason I mention it here is because the Kingdom Hearts novels are some I'd like to tackle that for (once I get my hands on them). This is just for fun and initially was a fun idea I wanted to do for my buddy, but I do plan on posting it somewhere that everyone can listen. My friend doesn't often have time to read physical books, but but has a ton of time for audiobooks at his job. We have a Snapchat group amongst a few of us called "somebody reads something" where we'll just randomly read excerpts of things, be it books, song lyrics, ingredients on a box of cereal, whatever, just stuff to make each other laugh and have fun, so this kind of goes along with that.

With that background out of the way, I have a really funny thought I thought today that I'm genuinely not sure how to tackle: Donald's voice My impressions aren't anything fantastic, but I think I can do something akin to the characters' voices well enough for the sake of most of the books I plan on reading. But when it comes to Kingdom Hearts I have NO idea how to tackle Donald's voice. I gave it an attempt, and it's hilariously ATROCIOUS. I don't know if I should just read his parts normal, maybe just in a higher pitch, or go for hilarity and do my atrocious impression. Would love to hear thoughts and opinions on the Donald voice thing for this totally serious and extremely urgent problem lol.

What do you mean by that? If you're talking in a legal sense, it's not something I'm really worried about. Like I said, it's mainly for my buddy and maybe a couple other friends anyway. Even if I can't keep it uploaded somewhere because it gets taken down it's no biggie, I can just send the file to them.

Actually, you do have a problem in the legal sense, but I'm not even talking about that.

This community/fandom has become completely and utterly creatively bankrupt. The forums are dead, the subreddit is nothing but braindead memes, social media is pure poison, and no one is really interested in doing anything like this anymore. At best, you can hope that someone might step up and help you out just to prove me wrong, in which case...you're welcome! But I don't see that happening either.

Take it from someone who's partaken in over a dozen fan projects, is active in the modding community, and is currently involved in three fan projects, including something crazy ambitious and against all common sense: This is D.O.A. If you wanna do this by yourself for yourself, I'm not gonna discourage you from having fun in your own way! But if you want to organize this into some kind of a thing with other people, your time is better spent elsewhere.

Theme, I don't think Max is asking for involvement from other people, I think he's just looking for advice on how to tackle doing Donald Duck's voice when reading the novels out to his friends. I read the OP as not looking for many individuals to voice a fan dub for the novels, but more as him goofing off with his friends and needing to know how to tackle on specific voice for it.

Max, if replicating Donald is too difficult, maybe the Ducktales joke route where they give him a normal voice for a bit? Establish that up front and it could work?

Otherwise I'm not sure since Donald is very tough to replicate especially with needing to swap between voices a lot.

Dude you should absolutely go for the atrocious impression. If the main purpose of this project is to make people laugh (like your friends) then the impression will be perfect, especially during dramatic story moments. I, for one, would definitely be interested in listening to this. Of course I can't speak for the rest of the fan base, but I'd like to think that most of us have a sense of humor and could use a good laugh during this long drought. But whatever you choose to do, just know that you'll always have the support of your friends as well as your KHI family. Anyways that's my opinion on the matter, definitely looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Completely flat affect. The most normal man you can be. Whereas every other character will have a mild cartoon inflection (or mild anime inflection in the case of some Organization members), Donald is like your work friend Harry, who boredly asks if you've been doing anything interesting lately but you can hear it in his voice that his heart's not in it.

*Just to clarify, it is indeed what Chaser said: I'm not trying to rally together a group for a full cast dub of the novels. This is just gonna be me reading the entirety of the books myself doing all of the voices for my friends and anyone else who wants to listen, I'm simply asking advice on Donald's voice.

Chaser, I didn't even know about that Duck Tales episode, so I appreciate the clip! That could be a fun nod while making the job way easier and still be funny.

Keyblade Knight, I'm seriously considering my atrocious Donald attempt It may not always come out understandable lol, but neither does he.

And Launchpad, I hadn't thought of that at all, like not only using a normal voice but also kind of changing his personality along with it simply through changing tone, that could also be funny in and of itself. Donald just sounding like an almost pathetic to the situation guy lol.
