Chapter 13: The Final Battle
Sora ran after Jess, who was running about a yard ahead of the party towards the castle. He thought he saw two people running towards them…

“Oh...my...god…” the girl whispered.
Sora’s eyes grew bigger. It couldn’t be…
“Kairi?”
The girl’s jaw dropped and tears filled her eyes. “Sora!!”
She ran and jumped onto him, causing both of them to fall and collapse into laugher. Kairi wrapped her arms around Sora’s waist, who hugged her back in return.
“I can’t believe it! All this time…I thought I’d never see you again…oh Sora!” Kairi cried.
He sat up and held her. “It’s okay, I’m here Kairi. Everything’s going to be okay,” Sora calmly said.
Kairi whipped the tears from her eyes. They both looked up to see Jess shedding a tear of joy for them. But she turned back and looked at the hooded figure.
“The Organization!” Donald screamed.
“No! He’s not with them!” Kairi said. “The Organization is dead.”
“What?” Sora asked.
“Yeah…I saw them…someone killed them all,” Kairi said quietly.
“So…then who is this?” Goofy asked.
The hooded figure lowered his hood and revealed the face of Ansem. Jess gasped loudly and Sora jumped up with his Keyblade; the rest followed.
But Kairi ran ahead and raised her arms, creating a shield in front of the man. “No!”
“Kairi! Do you know who this is?” Jess yelled.
“Yeah, I do. And all of you do too. Guys…its Riku.”
They froze.
“No way…that can’t be…” Sora said.
Riku stepped forward with Kairi next to him. They held out their hands, and Kairi grabbed Sora’s. Sora looked at Jess and motioned for her to join, which she did. The two of them watched Riku and Kairi closed their eyes and followed. Opening their eyes, the did not see the face of Ansem’s…they saw Riku’s.
Both of them stood with their mouths wide open. Riku smiled and put his hand down.
“The only way I can return to my normal state is if I destroy all the darkness inside me…but I don’t know how,” Riku explained.
“You have to find your light,” Jess said. She walked towards Riku and placed her hand on his chest and felt his heartbeat. Riku looked at her and his eyes became calm and loving. He felt something while looking at her…
Jess remained still and she slowly touched her own heart. A beam of light started to glow and the both of them were surrounded. With a flash, Jess lowered her hands and looked at Riku. He was back to normal.
Riku removed his cloak, revealing his new set of clothes, which was a nice pair of blue cardigan pants and a white sleeveless sweater. He was smiling at Jess, who smiled in return. Sora and the others looked on in amazement.
“Thank you,” Riku said.
Jess just nodded and smiled. “You’re welcome.”
A loud bang came from inside the castle that lasted about thirty seconds long.
“That…doesn’t sound too good,” Donald said.
“Should we go check it out?” Goofy asked.
“If we don’t, we’ll never stop whoever destroyed the Organization. Let’s go,” Sora said. And they all ran off back towards the castle.

They entered the same room where the bodies of the Organization still lay. Sora searched for any clues, but there was nothing.
“So what was this guy’s name?” Sora asked.
“Moritz?” Kairi said confused. “Such a weird name…”
Jess froze and Sora looked over to her. All eyes drew onto Jess’s back; she turned around with a pale face.
“He did this?”
“You know him?” Kairi asked.
“He killed my father…and almost killed me twice,” Jess said.
Riku ran over to her and took her hand. “We’ll take him down.”
“Its not that simple! You saw what he did to the Organization members! And who knows what he actually did! Moritz is capable of anything and he’ll--’’
Jess was cut off when Riku put his finger on her lips. “We’ll take him down,” he repeated.
She looked up at him and smiled. “Yeah…you’re right.”
“No, you’re wrong.”
Moritz appeared in the doorway with weapons in hand. “You can have the entire world at your side, and you still wont defeat me.”
Jess glared at him. “You’ve caused so much pain to me, and yet you cease to stop! What is it you really want, Moritz?”
“I want…the universe. I want it to be consumed in darkness! I want all to perish at my feet and call me their King. And…I want you to open that door to darkness,” Moritz said.
He disappeared in a pool of darkness and seconds later another loud bang came from down the hallway. The party left the room and ran towards the loud noise and found something that made them freeze with fear.
A tall, silver metal figure stood before them, almost reaching the sky-tall ceiling. It wielded a long sword that scraped the floor whenever it moved, sending sparks everywhere. In the center, morphed with the metal knight, was Moritz.
He controlled the being’s every move with his mind; there seemed to be no way to take this thing down…
“We can do this!” Jess cried. She drew out her two swords and started to run towards the knight, with everyone else following.
The battle was clearly one sided; no one stood a chance against Moritz. Every attack sent sparks flying everywhere, but no scratch was made. Sora realized that they were wasting their strength over nothing. They had to think of something else…
A light bulb lit up in his head.
He ran towards Jess, dodging Moritz's attacks, and pulled her to the side, out of harms way.
“What is it, Sora?” Jess asked panicked.
“When I disappeared before, I saw this platform and it had us on it. We were surrounded by light and it looked like we were using an attack. Whatever that attack is, we have it within us, and we have to use it!” Sora said.
“I’m not following,” Jess said.
“We have to attack with the light! Use the light within our hearts and that will bring him down!”
“Are you sure that’s going to work?” Jess asked.
“Only one way to find out,” Sora said, and he grabbed her arm and ran off with her in front of Moritz, who was distracted by the others who were still fighting him.
Sora stood back to back with Jess, and took both of her hands. “Now! Use the light! Use your heart, Jess!”
Jess obeyed; closing her eyes she concentrated only on the light within her heart. She thought of her mother, her home world and other worlds she’s traveled and had yet to travel and that she had to save them…and then her father’s face came to mind. She thought of her friends and how they needed her more than ever…
Jess opened her eyes and saw that she was surrounded in an aura of light and that she and Sora were floating in the air. Sora was doing the same as Jess; he was concentrating on the light within him and all who mattered most to him. They started to slowly swirl in the air, getting glimpses of their friends looking on and Moritz who remained still and waited for the failed attempt.
Sora and Jess started to swirl even faster until everything around them was blurred; their hands grew tight as they began to increase in speed.
“Jess! Release your light now!!” Jess heard Sora scream. And she did.
With all their energy left in them, a burst of light sent flying out, filling the room with the bright light. Moritz could be heard screaming in pain; and the clinging of swords sounded the room. Sora could tell that Riku and the others were starting to get through to Moritz.
He felt himself and Jess start to lower back to the ground. As their feet touched, the light faded and they were facing Moritz, who was still within the knight.
“He’s weakened!” Riku yelled from the sidelines, still attacking with his Keyblade.
Sora looked at Jess, who remained still and was staring at Moritz. She grabbed both of her swords and walked a few steps closer.
Jess started her right hand back, with her sword still in hand and targeted Moritz’s heart.
“This is for my father!”
She threw the sword and it lunged into Moritz’s heart, who froze inside the knight. The knight dropped the weapon, causing floor to shake a little. Riku and the others ran away from the knight towards Sora and Jess, who ran to the other side of the room to stand clear. When the knight fell, along with Moritz, the entire castle shook.
After the dust cleared, there was a moment of silence. Riku and the others ran and stood next to Sora and Jess, who were waiting to see what would happen.
Nothing happened; there was no movement from the knight or Moritz. Sora slowly walked towards the knight, with Jess and the others closely following. The knight was on his back and his arms and legs were sprawled out on the floor. Sora got closer and saw that Moritz was finally dead.
Jess walked up and took her sword out of Moritz’s heart. Staring into the eyes of the man who once set out to kill her, she cleaned the blood off of her sword on Moritz's clothes and slowly walked away towards Sora. He embraced her and whispered into her ear “He is proud.”
She smiled and walked to Kairi. She gave her a look that Kairi understood.
You’re lucky to have someone who cares about you so much.
Jess turned to Riku, who was smiling. “Not bad,” he laughed.
She punched his arm. “Gee thanks a lot!”
They all laughed as they turned to leave the castle. As they headed towards the gummi ship, they saw a small hooded figure standing on the side of the street.
“Golly! It’s good to see everybody’s alright!” exclaimed the person.
“Could it be?” Goofy asked.
“It is!” Donald ran towards the figure and bowed down. “It’s an honor to see you well, Your Majesty.”
What’s coming up in Chapter 14: The heroes head back to Destiny Islands to reunite with all of their old friends. The world throws them a welcome home party and in celebration of Moritz, Maleficent, and the Organization’s death. Relationships may be made…
