Spoiler ShowA spin in the air, Kyle gathered the energy of the force around him, and concentrated. Darien below prepared to shield herself from the powerful blow, realizing there was not enough time to move out of the way. The leap Kyle took towards his sparring opponent had a masterful technique, and an impressive level of power. Time slowed down around him as he connected his being with the force, feeling at one with life itself. Kyle’s fall towards the ground started and he pushed out in all directions at once, and his command of the force followed. Darien braced herself with all her might, pushing back as the force pushed her back like a tsunami. After the immense torrent slowed, Darien charged with lightsaber in hand, ignited the blade, brought sabre above her head and struck as hard and fast as she could. Kyle quickly dodged, and ignited his polesaber, silver blades emitting from both ends, a flash of green and silver clashed. The two of them had top marks in lightsaber combat, and in martial prowess, they were incredibly gifted students, rivals, and closest friends. Their masters walked in on the display, and interrupted them. “Master Janin, Master Ardross, what is it?” Questioned the two Padawan learners. “The Jedi council has a mission for us, you will be briefed on the way there. Don’t get too excited, this is strictly a learning mission.” Nikoova Janin answered, a Zabrak, and master to Kyle, was an alien species that was known for their facial tattoos and horns that protrude from their skulls. For someone so intimidating with his tattoos and strong horns, he was incredibly kind. Corellan, Darien’s master continued. “We’ll be heading to a newly discovered world, unfortunately the Jedi Council failed to mention the name of this planet, but we’ll be taking places at an academy there as students and teachers temporarily.” After a brief pause he continued on. “Be sure to bring your lightsabers, the wildlife, or Creatures of Grimm as they call them are incredibly unfriendly lifeforms. Unfortunately that is all we know about them.” Corellan Ardross turned with his old friend, Nikoova, and headed to prepare for the mission. Corellan was a human being standing almost seven feet tall. He had an imposing figure, much like Nikoova, though he was known to be very strict when giving orders. Kyle and Darien returned to their sparring, and Corellan yelled “Now apprentices! Or I’ll demand the council suspend you both from missions.” The two padawans jumped to attention and ran to their chambers to pack their robes and equipment.
Kyle arrived at his room and started to meditate. He would use the force to gather the materials the force dictated he would bring. There wasn’t anything that he didn’t want to bring to share with the people there, but the will of the force would choose what was necessary. Several minutes after deep meditation, Master Janin walked into his room, and acknowledged that Kyle was finished his packing, and meditating to find his centre. “It seems you are ready to go my boy, I will let you know, I am very proud of how far you’ve come along, and that I’ve mentioned to the Jedi council that I think that you are ready to take the trials to become a Jedi knight.” Kyle listened to his Master’s praise and his spirits rose. “However it is a few years short of the ideal 10 years that it usually takes to train an apprentice. So they might not be open to the idea, but don’t let that get your hopes down. I believe I have trained you sufficiently in order to pass the trials.” Kyle opened his eyes and broke his meditation, and fell to the ground. “I really have to get used to that, or at least have better control during my meditation. I can never tell when I’m up in the air like that,” Uttered Kyle quietly, working to the best of his capabilities to hide his excitement. “Master, over all the years I have worked with you, I want to say thank you for everything. There is so much to learn, and you have taught me so much. I am forever in your debt.” Kyle bowed low in deep respect for the man that has taught him almost everything he knows. Kyle opened his eyes to see his master was no longer there, and he got a ring on his communicator. Darien started shouting. “Kyle, everyone but you is on the ship and we’re waiting on you. Hurry up already!” Kyle laughed. “I am so sorry, I must have lost track of time during my meditation.” Kyle ran as fast as he could without the assistance of the force, and finally arrived at the starship hangar. Master Corellan shouted “You better hurry up, or we’ll be leaving with you, we have a deadline to keep!” As Kyle finally boarded the ship and took his seat. He brimmed with excitement, as he was ready to see a whole new world, with new lifeforms, and new people. The adventure was only getting started.
Darien approached Kyle aboard the starship. “Hey Kyle, there seems to be something different about you. I can sense more confidence and pride than I used to. What’s going on?” Enquired the fellow Jedi. Kyle opened up to his oldest friend. “Master Janin said he went to the Jedi Council and informed them that he thinks I’m ready to become a Knight! We might actually become knights together! Master Ardross is still having your trials scheduled soon, right?” Darien bowed her head. “Well about that,” Darien whispered quietly. “He said that he might never allow me to become a Jedi knight if I don’t keep my anger under control during this mission. You have to help me stay in line. I don’t know what I’ll do if they send me to the service corps. I’ve already come so far. Will you please help me?” Kyle studied his friend closely, and sensed the sincerity. Kyle punched her lightly in the arm and told her. “Darien, listen closely, you don’t need my help to keep your anger under control, but I will stay by your side whenever you need my help. We’re going to become Knights together.”
In the cockpit Nikoova turned to Corellan and spoke. “So I talked to the council about setting up Kyle for the trials,” the master breathed in deeply, and finished with “I’m hoping I made the right choice. Do you think he is ready?” Corellan set the co-ordinates for the jump to hyperspace and turned to his comrade. “That’s not for me to decide, my friend. I have never doubted your judgement. If you feel he is ready, then he is ready. I only hope I can say the same about my apprentice. She’s talented at combat, and is capable with the force but…” Janin interrupted. “Yes I sense it to, there is an anger to her, but she can overcome it. I’m sure of it, you had lots of anger around her age too.” Corellan smiled and replied “Yes, you’re right, but I don’t think it was tantamount to Darien’s. We encountered bounty hunters on an escort mission, and she nearly killed them all, Darien nearly killed the escort too, she was supposed to be the bait,” Corellan paused. “Luckily that escort was an old friend.” Nikoova laid a hand on his friend’s shoulder and said “Listen friend, just do what you can for her, if she works for it, and the force wills it, then she will surely become a knight and overcome this anger. We should get some rest while we wait for our trip to finish.” The two left the cockpit and informed their padawans they were going to get some rest and went to their separate beds aboard the ship. Kyle noticed that their masters weren’t around so he headed to the training room aboard the ship, looking to relax from all this excitement of taking the trials. He had to relax, a long road lay ahead, and there was still the mission to finish. Igniting his lightsaber, he practiced the several forms of lightsaber combat, starting with Form I the Shii-Cho, then to Form IV the Ataru form, and even farther onto the Shien and Niman forms, which were respectively Forms V and VI. Only the masters and knights of the Jedi Order could go beyond form VI, onto what is known as Vaapad. He then started to connect with the force as he focused, augmenting his speed, his focus, his strength, everything. He loved feeling as one with the rest of the universe. He activated the training droids, setting the difficulty to high. He could never defeat them, but he felt he could push himself when the odds were against him. The thought that maybe he could last a few seconds longer than he usually did than his previous match. Kyle ignited the other blade of his lightsaber and prepared for the onslaught of blows. One would say that it was lucky the ship could accommodate such brutal combat that Kyle endured. He sensed Darien enter the room and sneak up on a droid and eliminated it with a powerful swing. Two more droids activated and were set to the max parameters. As Kyle expected the two of them lasted only mere moments as the droids took the form of famous Jedi Knights, and obliterated the padawans. The program shut down and the two padawans started laughing. The intercom rang and the familiar voice of Nikoova rang through the training hall, bidding them to head to the bridge immediately so they could be briefed on the mission. Beaten and bruised the two apprentices slowly made their way to the bridge, upon arrival they noticed the holodisplay activate. Corellan eyed them up and down noticing the blood and sweat that stained their robes. Smirking he spoke aloud for everyone to hear "We're heading to an unknown world, the residents are civilized but have been stuck in combat with dangerous creatures, and a civil war with the other natives to the planet. Humans being the dominant race. You already know to treat all life as equal so if I hear you pick up any slurs at all to describe the other race, known as the Faunus, you won't be potential Jedi knights much longer, or at all." Nikoova continued on describing the types of monsters they might encounter out in the field. The holodisplay then projected the giant birds, bears and snakes each respectively having their own name, and that didn't scratch the surface, there were even wolf type creatures known as beowolves. The inhabitants were simply put, deadly. "Now as for your mission," Interjected Master Ardross. "We'll be attending an academy known as Beacon, they train their students in the art of combat and teamwork in order to battle these, aforementioned 'Creatures of Grimm'. The inhabitants have more information on these beasts, be sure to pay attention in the classes you are taking." Nikoova finished off the briefing with "Your mission here is to learn, adapt, and to assist the students in their battles with these monsters. The only thing you must worry about is being on best behaviour. This is supposed to bring our two worlds together, perhaps these students at Beacon have the capacity to wield the force as you do, and you might even see future residents of this world as future members of the Jedi Order. Now get some rest, we won't arrive for another few days." The holodisplay switched off, and everyone went their separate ways.
Having finally reached her quarters, Darien laid upon her bed. Unable to focus she rolled around in her bed, trying her best to remain confident in her ability to keep calm. Sitting up straight, she crossed her legs, and attempted to meditate. She felt a small wave of calm wash over her, and then started to see visions. The anger she unleashed on her last mission passed before her eyes. “No, I don’t want to see that!” Darien thought, and then she watched a world she didn’t recognize, she seen hundreds of people dying. A giant hole in the sky that seemed to destroy everything, and she was there too. She was being sucked up into the sky, powerless to do anything, panicking at the visions she opened her eyes and collected her wits. Bewildered, she wondered what she should do? It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to keep this vision to herself. She should probably inform Master Ardross or Master Janin, they might know what it means. Darien ultimately decided to postpone this information, and to get some sleep instead, believing perhaps a clear head, and a rested mind would be able to make heads or tails of this vision. “I still have to tell Master Janin and Ardross though.” She thought to herself, eventually closing her eyes, and slipping into slumber.
Nikoova woke from his deep slumber, a tug on the force that was barely noticeable managed to wake him, and the feeling the pull left was foreboding. Not sure exactly where it came from he resigned to wandering the ship and making sure everyone was okay. As soon as his chamber door opened he was greeted with Corellan. “So you felt it as well?” Nikoova asked. Corellan answered with a simple nod, and silently strode to check on Darien, as Nikoova intended for Kyle. Finally arriving at Kyle’s chamber aboard the ship, the door slipped open and Nikoova felt no disturbance and could see Kyle’s sleeping figure, and his audacious snoring. He then made his way to the bridge. Questions popped through is head, and he felt a warmth come from Corellan. Relax, friend, all is well for now. Corellan had reached Nikoova through the force, noticing Nikoova’s unease. Nikoova urged back with the force. Is Darien alright? Is she safe? A quick affirmation returned. Nikoova took a seat, preparing to meditate as he waited for Corellan’s arrival to the bridge.
“So Darien was the source of that small tug, she fell asleep very quickly though.”Noted Corellan, trying to wrap his mind around the numerous possibilities that the disturbance could be. He knew that as soon as he reached Darien’s room, that something bothered her before she was asleep. What it was he didn’t know. Hopefully she feels confident with informing us when she wakes. Arriving at the bridge he noticed Nikoova meditating patiently for him. He waited silently for a couple minutes, and then proceeded to the exit until his friend beckoned to him with an audible “Wait.” He proceeded to the seat next to Nikoova. Corellan sighed “Turns out Darien was the source of that pull, I didn’t wake her to ask any further about it, I trust she will inform us when she wakes.” Nikoova blinked and nodded. “Do you think it has anything to do with your near failed mission?” Corellan sat patiently, and thought for a moment. “It’s possible, my friend, but that might just be part of it, I feel there might be more to it than what we know, if we know anything about it at all,” Corellan stood up and finished with. “As I said before, I trust she will inform us of what happened when she wakes. That being said, I think I will return to sleeping as well, hopefully there isn’t a disturbing tug like that again. At least not anytime soon.” He turned and waved, exiting the bridge quickly. “I just hope that I am right.” Thought Corellan, quickly dismissing any doubt of his Padawan, as he arrived back at his chambers, and preparing to sleep.
