lol I'm late but thanks for the welcome! And yeah technically she should have freckles, but considering she's also a cartoon and Sora and Riku can defy gravity, I doubt realism is taken seriously haha.
While Kairi has had little development, it is still immature for people to "hate" her. She has done no harm to other characters and tries her best in any given situation. That is what commendable, and what I feel haters don't understand. Kairi is no samurai warrior, but has a strong heart and is willing to LEARN and GROW in order to protect her loved ones.
It's funny too, now that Kairi is getting more screen time the haters are complaining. So haters will always hate, no matter how much Kairi changes for the better.

I'd have to disagree here, considering the way things seem to be going. A love interest doesn't have to be someone in an already established relationship, they can be the object of affection, too, right?

<-- See the conflict she felt here? o3o I think at Hollow Bastion in KH1 she really shined, because there was almost nothing she could do and both her friends were in trouble- one practically "dead", and she still found some inner strength~ She was willing to throw herself on Sora to shield him from the other Heartless and she wanted to go help him get back Riku, despite her obvious worries. She's had character growth, in my opinion. Compare KH1 Kairi to KH2 Kairi. Of course, we never saw the growth happen, and that can certainly be frustrating, especially since she is one of the main characters and is the girl of the main trio. But I love her personality. Well they have the right to express their feelings about characters be it like or hate, but those who dislike Kairi for her lack of of development and think she has no purpose in the series I understand but the ones who twist Kairi into some two-faced Sora obsessed bitch are the one's I disagree with.
A love interest is a character that is the romantic interest of a character thus creating a romantic subplot in story.
Here's some examples.

Nomura said family has no real weight in KH, which is why the most family we've ever seen is Kairi's grandmother. So going by that, I would say we've never seen her parents. And in all likelihood we probably will never see them, just as we've never seen Sora or Riku's parents.
Do anyone remember when people use-to assume Ansem was Kairi's grandfather.

Of course not all, some must be open minded enough to appreciate the development.
And yeah, I've always thought Kairi developed well in character given how much time she had in the games. While I am completely tolerant of hater's beliefs, I still feel that extreme hatred towards a character is pointless if they haven't done anything to gain that hate.
On another subject, I'm curious as to how Kairi will change further in regards to her future. New outfit maybe as well? :3
