I think the reason he chose riku is because they were alike. I think MX strayed to close to the darkness and it devoured his heart, or maybe he just never had a heart to begin with, only time will tell.

I'm going to have to say Sora. He allowed two other people to use a keyblade becasue of their connection to his heart. Roxas comes in at a close second because duel weilding keyblades is so awesome.
