With these last five quests leaving little to do quest-wise and ample material to work with plot-wise, it seems we finally have our answer of what happened at the end of X.
From what I have understood through rough translation so far, the meat of the plot happens when Chirithy has a conversation with Ephemer and Skuld after their meeting with the Union Leaders (didn't know Chirithy had a gender, by the way). From what Ephemer and Skuld said to Chirithy, it seems like the player has had their memory wiped one way or another. The Player still dreams about these events, and frequently has nightmares about that day, but Chirithy is instructed to lie about the past in order to preserve the future. This finally makes Chirithy a true dream eater, in my eyes, since he's eating all of the bad nightmares and leaving good ones, in a way.
Union Cross is an attempt to have the Player cheer up so he'll eventually end up forgetting the events of the past entirely, from what I've seen so far. Ephemer is more mature now that he is a Union Leader, and he senses a different darkness in this world rather than the heartless they've seen before, foreshadowing the return of the dream eaters proper. I say this because the dream eaters are known in the series as the enemies that never had a proper explanation to their existence other than "heartless can't get through, so these are a new breed of darkness", so him being confused by the complexity of this darkness could be a clue as to what this new darkness is. Skuld then says that telling Chirithy of the darkness is only going to make her more anxious, and Ephemer states that he feels that they should be clued in on what's going on at least a little bit, as every time a change in this world occurs as opposed to the last one it makes him more and more uneasy (also, we finally heard "may your heart be your guiding key").
Now, from what we can gather here, we can finally begin to understand the ending of Kingdom Hearts X. The Player is lied to by the Chirithy after the events of the Keyblade War, and is brought back to the Unchained Realm, a new world seemingly created by the Master of Masters. From here, Chirithy tells the player about all of the events leading up to this point, but leaving the keyblade war out of it, including the talks with Master Gula, the fight with the nightmare chirithy, everything that can be considered end-game. The Master of Masters said that it would be best for memories of tragedy to be saved for the Union Leaders and the union leaders only, with the player being told that their dreams are just that; nightmares, and nothing more. This is first introduced when the Player wakes up in Enchanted Dominion, directly after the keyblade war, and is told by Chirithy that they dreamed all of those events up, and supposedly joined the dandelions.
So, the game seemingly takes place at the start of that dreaming realm; you go through most of the events of the original world, but just around Cinderella everything starts changing significantly, which makes Ephemer especially uneasy. The differences are like this: in the original game, you go through the entirety of the keyblade war and claim post as the last man standing, and in Unchained X Ephemer and Skuld try desperately to help you forget what happened, with you reliving the events of the past, but with changes here and there; a false dream, if you will.
I'll rewrite large portions of this article later, since I think my sentence structure and thoughts in this post were absolutely jumbled, but what do you guys think? If anyone is a translator, was this mostly correct, or was the guy that I watched absolutely wrong about the translation? Comment below, let me know ^u^
