Lol i read years ago that they were different things and i have always thought that it was right. Thanks...because they totally are?
Ansem's Kingdom Hearts has been called the Door to Darkness since KH1, because that's what it is: the door to the darkness of all hearts, created by gathering the hearts of all worlds and opened by the seven princesses of heart.
...because they totally are?
No, they're not.
Ansem's Kingdom Hearts was resting in the Realm of Darkness - the door was summoned by the gathering of the princesses. They're not the same - a similar door is summoned in front of Xemnas's Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts is floating plenty of feet behind it, and the door is just hanging out in space, but once you walk through it you're inside Xemnas's Kingdom Hearts - a similar situation is happening here, it's more metaphysical than literal. In those final cutscenes in the original Kingdom Hearts, you can see a giant smokey black outline in the shape of a heart, a common theory is that is Ansem's Kingdom Hearts
As Mickey mentions, it's the door TO Kingdom Hearts - and in Chain of Memories he even goes so far as to talk about the light of Kingdom Hearts coming from beyond the door.
They are different things, but they are inherently linked.
This.
Also, if you missed it in the game, there's further proof that the Door to Darkness is its own thing because of Kingdom Hearts II's research on the matter long before Ansem SoD started destroying worlds, as well as Mickey's explanation of the nature of the door in 0.2. Mickey says that a heart cannot pass through either side of the door, meaning that, while Riku can help close the door, he can't necessarily pass through, something specific to a door and not some weird spiritual moon entity. That and the fact that the Door to Darkness locks away the darkness/keeps out the light while Kingdom Hearts is pure light creates a dichotomy that directly contradicts itself if they're of the same being.
Ooook, but Mickey says "we can't leave it open" referring to kingdom hearts as if kh was behind that door
Well, yeah, that was implied. But he meant we can't leave the door open, they're still two different things.
Ok i understand. Thanks man
Nothing is sure in kh ahaha. Guess that is one of the things that make this saga so fascinating.Of course! It was a good question though, you actually made me check myself once or twice typing out an answer for this one.

Even my house's door is not my house, in the strict sense that I do not live in my door, but it's part of my house.
You're making the same argument that we are, except that there's a major difference. Unlike your house and door, Kingdom Hearts and the Door to Darkness exist separately as well - when Kingdom Hearts is made, the door to it must be summoned, moreover, the Door is literally the door to the Realm of Darkness and it can be summoned by the gathering of princesses even if a Kingdom Hearts hasn't been made. The Realm of Darkness exists without Ansem's Kingdom Hearts. You can and do have one without the other.
As I just said...hahahahahahaNothing is sure in kh ahaha
