I find that in this clip EXCLUSIVE! 'Arrow' Winter Premiere Sneak Peek: Thea Begins to Doubt Everything (and Laurel Isn't Helping), I am reminded of Aqua not only through her voice of course but her mannerisms and emotional integrity. As much as I loved her as Aqua already, I really think that if she does come back for 2.8/III she will be able to bring an even greater emotional range to her line delivery and performance since she has gotten more experience playing this kind of role of on Arrow.

Willa's performance in Final Mix was outstanding, and a huge improvement. So, I'm not worried.

she will almost certainly come back, and she was always a good actor, just suffered from a lack of experience, bad voice direction and script.

This. Voice acting takes more than one person, a performance relies on the actor, script, director and sound engineer.

Well I can't imagine those would be much different for 2.8? The games are made by the same development teams after all.

like tinny said, take 2.5 as an example. they recorded new lines from willa and they were fantastic, they improved on these things greatly since 2010.

No offense to the Japanese voice director but they really do need to get somebody who is much more accustomed to English voice direction in the room when the cast records. It could help with giving more life to the performances, especially Willa's who is a phenomenal actress and just needs better direction for the Kingdom Hearts games. Her performance in Final Mix was fantastic, though, so I'm not too worried but I don't want KH3 to be filled with awkward pauses and drawn out sentences.

Disney has a bunch of voice directors. Have the Japanese voice director and Nomura issue out some orders on how characters need to be reacting in certain scenes and let the English director have a crack at it.

It doesn't help when the script itself is one dimensional and boring. TAV simply don't have an interesting story to tell. That's why Jesse phones it in as Ven with the 'high, friendly' voice, and turns around and crushes it as Roxas. Days didn't have a great script either, but at least Jesse was able to pull SOME conflict out of the situation that Roxas is in.

I can't agree, lol. Ventus was the first time I really bought Jesse's voice work (I didn't think KH2 was bad, but it definitely didn't leave an impression on me). I went into BBS expecting to not care for or like Ventus but his voice work was a big part of why that character ended up meaning a lot to me. His ending line is still one of my favourite deliveries in the series.

I mean, both Willa and Jason did pretty badly in BbS tbh, which isn't surprising considering the voice direction but is surprising when you see those actors in other roles.

Willa is hella talented, and as everyone said, her lines in 2.5 show how much her work for Aqua has vastly improved.

Well I mean it's not that surprising. Voice acting is pretty different from acting-acting. Requires different skills and approaches. I don't think it's surprising that a bunch of near first time voice actors didn't do so well on their first attempt.

(that being said I don't think they were that bad. I've definitely heard worse in KH)

Its crazy to think when I played BBS and started watching arrow 5 years later, I never knew Thea was the voice of Aqua. Now that I know...I'm all for it.

Now the only thing remaining is to hope for having also a better voice direction to make full effective use of that great cast.

sorry, I'm not a miracle worker. *sitcom laughter slowly fading into crying*
