Hello and welcome everyone to our first ever KHI Academy Awards. And what a successful event it was! Tons of you sent in nominations for almost 100 different members of our community. So many excellent members of the community were recognized for their work and the Academy had a very tough time voting for the winners. We did our best to spread the wealth, though it proved difficult in many aspects. Moving forth with the event into the next year, we hope to have more award categories to insure that all the right people get the awards they deserve. Thank you everyone who voted this year for your contribution: Taochan and I had a tough time organizing the spreadsheet with all the results, but it was well worth it to have so many people interested in the event. I hope you keep the same enthusiasm for next year! Now, without further ado, let's get on with the results!
~*~*~*~
Best Digital Artist: Oberon
Oberon's work throughout the digital community has been absolutely astounding. From his fantastic typography to his mastery of color, Oberon humbles most every other digital artist we have. His Zelda movie spoof posters are a perfect example of his expertise. If you're looking for some tips and tricks, hit Oberon up. He's got you covered.
Best Traditional Artist: Ophan
Before I even begin to explain this decision, check out this thread first. Ophan's work is amazingly professional, with detail beyond compare. His style is incomparable and his mastery of pen to paper personally leaves me stunned every time he posts a new picture. He puts clear time and effort into everything he makes, and it shows. Keep on drawing, kid.
Best Writer: Solar
Solar's style of writing is something that the Academy all agreed we don't see all too often. It has a flair that causes you to want to read on and on, eating up every word he throws down on the page. His writing is fresh, free-flowing, and fantastic. With a mixture of raw talent and learned skill, Solar has written the forum masterpiece that is Shades of Blue. Though he's no longer as active as he used to be, his writing wit has yet to fail him.
Best Roleplayer: OmniChaos
Roleplaying? What's that? That's the section at the bottom of the forum that members everywhere are afraid to tread into for fear of never returning. Every member, that is, except for OmniChaos. With a dedication to the section that exceeds anything I've ever seen, OmniChaos manages to organize Character of the Week and the RP Academy, all while participating in various RPs himself. While we have many talented roleplayers, OmniChaos goes the extra mile for the section, and that's something you never really see anymore (especially for Roleplaying).
Jack of All Trades: Zephyr
Zephyr is a true member of all trades. From digital art to traditional art to translating, Zephyr seems to do it all. One minute you may be admiring his beautiful banners on the main site and then the next you're reading an article he translated just for us. Zephyr's flexibility allows him to go from traditional art to digital art flawlessly, as well as translating for the site staff (and being a great gamer!) has earned him this award.
Most Helpful: Taochan
If you've ever had a question on the forums, I'm sure you've run into Taochan at least once. Taochan helps any member who might possibly need it and serves as a great role model for new members. Since becoming Staff just a few short months ago, she's banned thousands of bots all on her own, all while helping me manage a myriad of community events. Taochan truly exemplifies service for all others, and she steps up whenever the need arises. Whether it be helping a member in the Ask-a-Mod thread or helping to run the KHI Academy Awards, you can always count on her to offer a helping hand.
Funniest Member: Chris
As a great man once said, "Chris snuck up like an awkward fart overnight." Before the forum had even known what had hit them, a new member was on the scene, making sides roll and stomachs ache. With his fresh humor and constant thoughtful hilarity, his posts never skip a beat. In a short amount of time, Chris developed himself into one of KHI's most notorious comedians, and we hope he continues to stay here and entertain us instead of moving on to a casino bar telling corny jokes somewhere in Nevada. Make us laugh, funny man.
Friendliest Member: Taochan
And how could you have helpfulness without being friendly as well? Taochan always makes a point of welcoming each and every new member to the forum, directing them to the FAQ and making them feel as content as she possibly can. I randomly struck up a conversation with her last summer with the complete intention of trying to weird her out. It didn't work. She was too nice and welcoming for it to work! She's sweet, funny, and easy to talk to. If you've never had a conversation with her, go start one. Right now. See what the fuss is about! You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Master Debater: gelandporn
For some people, it's hard to take conversations seriously on the internet (especially on a KH fan forum). Others get far too worked up about arguments. gelandporn falls into neither category. With tact and sophistication, gelandporn will argue his point in an articulate fashion without ever disrespecting you. Behind every debate he gets into is an army of facts that will almost always get you to see his way. He has a natural flair for getting a point across, and all while never having to lay down a single insult. Kudos.
Avid Gamer: Xaldin
Despite being mostly a relic of KHI's past, Xaldin accomplished some amazing feats last year. To list a few: he has thousands of trophies on PSN, including numerous Platinums; towards the end of last year, he actually owned every single game available on the Playstation Network; he broke the speedrun world record for Super Mario 64. Xaldin goes through video games faster than I can go through anything in my life. Also, he's in Japan right now. Probably beating video games and making music.
Dedicated Fan: Sign
How many of us can say our own creations are sitting on display at Square Enix Japan? Sign can. Her paper mache Dream Eaters are there right now, hopefully earning all the praise they rightfully deserve. Sign is responsible for almost all of the current content pages on the main site, and you can always find her in the KH sections contributing to discussions . Her dedication to the series is without compare and it truly shows.
Most Improved: Maverick
Despite being constantly teased by a myriad of members on this site, Maverick continues to show up and do his best to entertain the community and his friends here. Throughout 2012 he slowly became more confident of a member and he's worked hard to improve his reputation. Anyone who sticks around that long and through so much crap given to him deserves some recognition. So here's your award buddy. Just don't trade it in for a new PS3.
Hottest of the Hot - Males: Tayroar
I'm not entirely sure what to say here! If you whore yourself out enough in the Post Your Pic thread, you might just win a forum award on Kingdom Hearts Insider forums. If you can live with the shame, so can I. Thank you everybody. <3
Hottest of the Hot - Females: Shawty
Let me just remind everyone for a second that when Shawty first posted a picture, numerous members on the forum thought she was trolling because how often does someone as attractive as Shawty actually go here. Probably never. Guys still awkwardly hit on her in the Post Your Picture thread. Don't feel bad, we're all guilty of it. Thanks for making our site beautiful, Shawty (p.s. let's be a power couple).
Username of the Year: Sexual White Chocolate
Just take some time right now to appreciate that name. Appreciate every word -- every syllable -- that it has to offer. Hell, even every letter. Let it roll off of your brain's tongue, slowly producing feelings of euphoria in waves across your body. Do you feel that? That's the power of the most amazing username this forum has ever had and probably will ever have. Every time I see this name I melt a little inside. And don't even get me started on the man behind the username. That's just too much.
Best Avatar/Signature: Turn
I think we should all be able to agree that Turn's avatars have turned us on at some point or another. Most of them are his own personal art, and he's got a unique style that I've personally fallen in love with. Also, sometimes he has Terriermon in his avatar and he is one of the best Digimon ever. Whether he's rocking a personal creation or a picture from the depths of the internet, all of his profile images are of very high quality.
Staff of the Year: Sign
Go look at the main site right now. Most of those content pages you see? Sign. All those images? Sign. When KHI went through a massive overhaul early last year, Sign was almost solely responsible for seeing it through to the end. She's worked hard to coordinate all the content, as well as help to organize site-related events for the forum. Without her, who knows where KHI would be right now. She was recently promoted to Site Staff Manager for all the constant hard work she's put into this site through both thick and thin, but here's just a little bit of icing on that cake. Thank you for all you've done, Sign. <3
Member of the Year: Tayroar
I was a little taken aback by this one, to be perfectly honest. Since I can't be the one to go over whatever the members think I did to deserve this award, I'll just stress how thankful I am to have been given it. Ever since I was promoted to Administrator last August, I've worked hard to help make the community a bit more lively and entertaining through projects like the KHI Mailbag, KHI Sings, the KHI Bulletin, and these awards, among other events. I've tried my best to get to know more members (I used to be a hermit) and work with them to help better the community. I'm grateful to be a part of a site where I can contribute something if only to put a smile on just a couple of members' faces. Thanks for giving me the opportunity and thank you for the award. <3
Post of the Year: Arpack in "Sora x Riku CONFIRMED
Just read the first post to understand the true hilarity of this post. Despite the irony of the "theory" being in Forum Insanity, the joke clearly flew over Arpack's head in what can only be called a hilarious misunderstanding. Perhaps the greatest part of Arpack's post is that -- in context -- he has absolutely no idea of how funny he actually is. Don't worry, Arpack, we're laughing with you, not at you. Thanks for being so unaware.
Thread of the Year: Steve's TV Show
Steve's often known for making some hilarious threads, and this one was no exception. Incorporating any member of the community who wanted to be a part of the shenanigans, Steve wrote a character for every single member who posted in the thread. Soon, Steve's thread became one of the most popular threads on the forum and members were coming from far and wide to get a character in his future TV show. Funny, creative, and clearly with a lot of effort put forth, Steve's TV Show takes the cake for the greatest thread of 2012.
