why is ventus just called "ven"?

ven is only half of his name, so does that mean some "half" of him is gone?

this is just assuming that it's important to the plot

the real mystery is Vanitas and Xehanort as their names have different means or arrangements.

Vanitas- latin means emptiness

Xehanort- anagram for no heart, another

Ven is a nickname for Ventus thats all

xehanort's name = connection

vanitas' name = connection

Vanitas and Ven's name's are meant to sound similar, so there's a connection there. Ven's also already connected to the trio symbolism of the elements, being wind.

Uh yeah, because it's easier to say. That's the only reason.
How much you want to bet the only difference is that his friends (Aqua, Terra) refer to him as "Ven" where as people like Eraqus and MX refer to him as "Ventus". It's just an issue of people he's close to, comfortableness, formalness, etc. It's just a nickname, not everything needs to have a deep meaning.

going by if some part of terra=xehanort, the name changing pattern he got in organization XIII could originate to this. but that's just a big "if" so i'm not really going to count this

if zexy was acommon nickname than my theory goes down the drai. if not, than it must have been something irelevant
