Banning someone involves pressing a button. Unless you're unstable and derive immense joy from stupid shit, you don't really get any jollies from it, unless the banning also involves trolling/insulting the person, at which point the events preceding the banning are hilarious.

From past experience, being able to ban people is probably the least interesting part of being a moderator. You press a button and they are gone; unless you're some sort of creep who exists exclusively on the internet, you realize that you don't actually have any power over the person simply because you've removed their forum privileges. Quite the contrary; once you've removed a person from the site, you've actually forced them outside your sphere of influence and you no longer have any control where they're concerned. That's not to say that banning isn't very necessary at times, but it's not something that I ever liked or that I've ever known anybody else to enjoy.

The fun parts of being a moderator are things like getting to edit people's posts to say "I am a tremendous faggot and I enjoy multiple cocks simultaneously", being able to see exactly what anybody is doing at any given time, being able to make threats that actually carry some leverage, the various little features than can be used to tease normal members -- banning is actually done very rarely and not something that either party generally takes pleasure in.

How's that for an answer?

yeah, banning is probably the least enjoyable part about being a mod (for pretty much the same reasons Sam has stated)

banning is only somewhat fun if you leave the user with a comical ban message

You'll be banned for the question probably.

And yet you're the one with the neg rep.

Quite what I was searching for. I intend to make a very in-depth conversation about something totally insignificant.

What if it's a rather annoying or snotty person who thinks that they are ridiculously superior over everyone else ?(I've seen it happen) Would it not be satisfying to "show them who's boss", so to speak?

It's the circumstances that precede the banning that make it all worth it. Seeing the stupid shit people do and say is the highlight of my time here.

Like Sam and TMM have said, all the fun is had before any banning by using all the other powers at your disposal.

Was my first post not explicitly clear? In order to enjoy putting a member in their place you need to be able to observe their reaction, and banning them effectively prevents them from even being able to give one.

I'll use Star Light as an example. We have a rule about discussing shit that happens in the staff forum with anybody on the outside, but I can probably disclose this without any repercussions: I was pushing to get her banned for weeks because she is a complete fuckwit, and Ty (or Silh as you faggots call him) devised an even better plan; this is essentially how the whole ordeal with her becoming a moderator and it all turning out to be a hoax started. So he changed her username color, let her think she was a moderator for a few days while the entire forum was laughing at her, and then abruptly stomped her shit in the most public way possible.

This "punishment", if you want to call it that, was so much better than a ban because of the entertainment it provided, and once it was all over she got to stick around to deal with all of her disappointed friends, the ridicule, the loathing, the "how fucking stupid can you be to not have realized it was a joke"'s, and so on. Now, very rarely do we go to measures like that to deal with somebody we feel is out of line, but this is a good example of an alternative to a ban. Sometimes in the chat we'll fuck with them by making the chatbot talk to them, or registering a famous name as an admin and talking to them through it (Sarah Palin was my favorite to use until a few weeks ago).

What I'm trying to get at is that humiliation is 1000x better than outright extermination; ESPECIALLY in cases where the member has an ego that's in need of crushing.

So once again I say no, banning is usually only done when there's no humor to be extracted from the member. There is nothing funny about child pornography, there is nothing funny about somebody attempting to hack the site, there is nothing funny about World of Warcraft bots, and these are the kinds of things that merit a ban.

Re: Warhammer onlin experience

Warhammer is no doubt very old game, but all I like. However, I was under a version of the Warhammer 40,000 Chinese version of the winter offensive, only 5 races, but now are 12 different races do not want to ask me to re-download the update can do Warhammer? Such as patches and the like Warhammer power leveling.Ah! I am very glad!, Like me, someone like Warhammer 40K. Good winter offensive, you can experience the Imperial Army guard, but the soul is as if the storm does not have the resources to try to eDonkey (emule) go to see, I find, but nothing to boast about the speed. You know War power leveling is not only level you account, but also increase you entertaining that brings to you. PS: (the latest is the soul of the original crisis is not a simple task, but to conquer the entire galaxy, there are 12 ethnic fortress [Stronghold], which can choose to attack Province, the last bastion kill the enemy, the enemy will be out of the galaxy!)Support Warhammer online power leveling, experience my lovely game.I will not let the game of life changed, because what Because we are living in a different point of view! When you have WoW Power Leveling, you will feel more happy! You can brush WoW Gold, when you upgrading! I have one night alone in the window to think, think of every time was the well-being, I would think that this is life must have been! Sometimes nothing about their ability to very distressed, but now the pressure is so big, even if no pressure is also the driving force! If you have World of Warcraft Power Leveling, you can get your equip easily.

It's a forum, the least that you'll get is an emo session with My Chemical Romance and move on to another forum. Though from my past forum lives, I've seen one chap who abused his powahs that it drove everyone mad, they had to shut the forum down for 2 months. I mean he got the position, he banned Admin, Site Staff, this lot called the "Spammers" and finally, the owner got pissed OFF. I mean really pissed off and closed Fora.
