After the gameplay trailer was unveiled last week, many have been anxiously waiting for the next update on Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], when the date for open beta will finally be announced so they can experience the Keyblade Wars for themselves! Well the time is finally over, as open beta launches this week, starting from July 8th-August 1st. In other words, it's open right now!

KINGDOM HEARTS χ (KEY) OPEN BETA TEST Campaign to Commemorate the Start of the Open Beta Test Under-way
Presenting the series’ first online PC browser game, Kingdom Hearts χ (Key), to be provided through Yahoo! Games. Playing as yourself, adventure through various Disney worlds as on your web browser. Advance through strategic battles using cards available in-game and occasionally work together with friends to face off against enemies, experience a new gameplay sensation never before seen in the Kingdom Hearts series. <STORY> Far, far away, in a fairy-tale realm… The realm was filled with light. That light gave birth to many worlds, enveloping them. However, just as strong light will form a shadow, darkness was born. The darkness called up fear, unease and craving. Darkness, hidden deep in hearts, began to spread throughout the realm as chaos. <CHARACTERS> ◆ The Foreteller A mysterious figure who bears a Keyblade. They explain the missions of the Keyblade Wielders to everyone, and guide the way to the battles between light and darkness. They seem concerned about the rising power of darkness, but their true motives and goals are unknown. It is known that there are five 'mysterious figures', each the head of a separate Union.
◆ Chirishii A person who works for the 'mysterious figure'. The 'mysterious figure' has entrusted them to guide Keyblade Wielders. For someone with such a modest way of speaking, they sure do push a lot of directions at you. If you don't understand something, maybe you can count on them...
◆ Moogle The shopkeeper at the Moogle Shop. While he looks cute, he's cunning when it comes to trading the cards you've picked up. It seems he's simply in the card business and has no connection to the 'mysterious figure' or to Chirishii.

There are no classes. You choose one of the five factions to fight for and that's pretty much it. A few of us are gathered on Team Vulpes (the fox), but you can choose whichever you like.
I'm already level 7 :P I'm having way too much fun haha.
Also, I really love the new Heartless designs in Dwarf Woodlands! I assume if they put in other worlds from BBS (which I expect they will put in Enchanted Dominion and Castle of Dreams) they may have some new ones as well I hope? :)

Yeah I am looking forward to more worlds, too! :) As of right now they seem to be going with the Princesses of Heart's worlds. So I kind of expect all 7 of them to be the first worlds available.

Mirby had that as well, and I believe she said it increased the level limit for the card from 40 to 45.
Actually not just 40-45. I think it just raises the max level for that card by 5. It only seems to appear when fusing a card that is identical to the one it's being fused to (stats notwithstanding).
I'm workin' on something to help y'all out, be patient please.
Is there anything I should know before going into this? I've never played a beta, or a game that's in Japanese. :x

I spent five hours straight on my first session.
So unless you have an iron will and can take yourself away from an addictive game, I'd probably start playing when you've got a lot of free time. XD
Very fun game, still getting used to the everything is Japanese you basically got to guess thing. XD But starting to get the hand of what button activates what. I'm going to need major help come time when you need to level up your cards... I have no idea where to go or what for that.

It honestly gets pretty easy once you play for long enough. You'll begin to recognize certain characters and link them to items and actions. The tutorial does a good job of walking you through things like upgrading cards; you don't even need English for it to make sense.
And you can always keep the guide open in a separate tab if you forget something.
Does anyone know how to go about getting the Treasure Trove Keyblade? It's in the journal as completing story 1-2, and I have no idea what to do because I can barely read Japanese

Given the worlds we already had, it only makes sense the other two would be Princess home worlds.
I'm just wondering why Castle of Dreams and Radiant Garden aren't also on the list.
The site only has room for two more worlds at the moment, so that is probably why. But yeah, I'm not surprised at all :) I wonder if we will get to see outside of Beast's Castle a little, since they seem to be adding new areas in this game.

I also think the Anguis leader is feminine but he/she could be androgynous. The lips are what give it away imo As for the leaders, I still think Vuples is the coolest one. Don't get me wrong, they all look cool, but a really bad*** female is just too much (we don't have enough of them in video games) so when the real game comes out, it's very likely I'm sticking with Vulpes :) Or do you think these Beta accounts will transfer over?

Castle of Dreams - too small, they keyblade wielders are clearly normal sized and given the map from BbS from Terra and Aqua's story, the map is quite small (Chateau, entrance to castle, castle hallway, a few castle rooms, that's about it).
Radiant Garden - I'm sure it will happen eventually, but I think they are going to wait on it since it would probably be the final world. It just makes sense that the first 5 they start us off with are all PoH worlds. Unless these are the only 5 which is possible and really short.

The Jewelry Bag and Achoo Mole (as well as the older Heartless) are also Emblems.

Well, the Unversed were a unnatural phenomenon created by the separation of Vanitas, so it's to be expected since Heartless are a natural occurance. Besides, they mentioned this all took place way before, who knows how long before Aqua and the others even became Keyblade weilders... the new Heartless are pretty fun.

So? They added more into Dwarf Woodlands, and they re-vamped the city of Agrabah. As well as putting in some new areas for Wonderland. Castle of Dreams ain't that small.

They go into the section but I noticed that's it's the ones that say "Limit Cut" that always have the red lettering pop up in the blue box so I guess that's what that means? I can fuse the cards though, I was just afraid that I might be doing something wrong like it wasn't recommended those cards be fused even though you have the option to.

The red text happens when I fuse away R cards, as well as cards that give Limit Cut.
My only guess is it's reminding you that there's no reversing it.

I also see that cat thing, Chirishii waiting there but you can't talk to him...?

Could you name some of them? I'd like to get a clear picture of my avatar from the game... also Idk, the only two I am completely sure are male are the unicorn guy and bear guy. Those two are obviously male with broad shoulders and stout figures. The rest are pure speculation until Nomura ever decides to reveal them... or whoever drew these ones.

I'm level 22. I'm a pretty high level though. I've played a LOT.

Level 22 over here.
Agrabah would be the best place to grind, yes. It has the most Heartless.
The respawning mechanics are kind of odd (haven't completely figured them out), so I think the best strategy for grinding would be to clear out Agrabah, move over to another world, then come back.
King Chaser If you click the info bar at the top (has your level, name etc.) it will show you how long AP will take to replenish.
I did not know that ^_^ Thanks. That's very useful. I'm only 14 but I find that leveling isn't too hard, just leave Chi on while you're on the computer and keep fighting heartless every once in a while :)
P.S. Agrabah is definitely the best purely because of the dessert which is endless (or it seems endless).

There's an end actually. I didn't notice it the first time around and thought I ran around in a huge circle, but the final area has two paths: one leading back to Aladdin and the other goes to a more rocky area.

Oh I know that part...that's pretty cool. I like how the path to Aladdin makes it a complete circle because when I got to the rocky part I thought how dreadful it was gonna be to have to run all the way back haha (I made the best of it by killing every high leveled Heartless along the way).

Indeed, geez. If they have an account transfer that would be so sweet. They should give english speakers extra props for navigating through the Japanese only open beta. XD Still can't wait until it's fully out in english so I can enjoy the story first hand and not skip past those scenes being like... just nod and say yes... idk what you're saying. I'm thinking it's Square's way of making you buy the potions like most browser games, but me I'm only going to pay once this is translated to english, so I've been waiting the full 2.5 hours. XD Only lv. 16 as a result... idk anyways, it's open beta so most liekly everything will be deleted when it's over.

I'd save them until your desperate. XD Every time you level your ap, and bp is filled all the way: whether you used it all up or not. So it's a waste to use them if you're close to the next level. I have this thing set up, where I only use potions to go that extra mile to level if I'm really close. Otherwise, if I run out, and not close I just wait 2.5 hours. XD

My character in closed beta was wiped, so for now I can only assume the same will happen for open beta.
Yeah I assume they will wipe them so that certain factions don't start off with really overpowered wielders and it remains fair for everyone. Okay, does anyone know when this beta is supposed to end? I want to make sure I get all the cards I have in photo form beforehand ^_^

Like Atlantica or Halloweentown? And WAIT, did you guys find any Beast's Castle or Enchanted Dominion cards? If so, that would only further prove those are the last 2 words. I would love a Maleficent card if such a thing exists ^_^

I've been using the starter one for forever since I'm assuming you have to beat a huge boss at the end that's like lvl 75 or something >_< Just my guess though since I know I've seen heartless as high as 50 so I assume the boss goes higher (is there even a boss?)

Oh cool, how do you get the silver cards? I had a bunch of silver, gold, and so many bronzes that I just use to level up by silver cards.

On the screen where you edit your deck, above that there is your keyblade. Click the > button to change it.
And yeah, you only get keyblades from defeating large level heartless.

Interestingly, all of the worlds you travel to, a Princess of Heart resides there. I think the last two worlds that are yet to be confirmed could be Castle of Dreams and Radiant Garden*.

Yup I did saw that. I mean I just noticed that Stroke of Midnight and Destiny's Embrace are missing and they could be added into the official release since the rest are Princesses of Heart worlds.

We determined that its name is "Wabble Tiptoe," but I haven't seen anything else about it.

Maybe my computer isn't loading the page but when I go to the Cards section of Chi, it doesn't show all of the cards because a few of those Kairi ones you showed me Sign aren't there at least when I look at it.

These are the Kairi cards that you can obtain from the Moogle Shop. When you encounter a Moogle out in the field, there should be a black button to the bottom right of the second pay-with-real-money option, that pops up a list of all the cards you can get from them.

You have a chance to acquire them in the Moogle Shop. You can't purchase any cards specifically; it's all random.

What do you mean their effect? Does each assist card have an added effect besides increase in HP and Lux? If so can anyone tell me what the Kairi, Jiminy (if anyone has it), and Ariel effects are?
Mirby it boost the experience they get and allows them to level up
which can boost their effectiveness (HP and Lux boosts)
So a Moogle card increases the amount of EXP a card gets when you synthesize it with other cards? Or is it just in that single time when you synthesize it with the Moogle card? Either way that sounds very interesting and I plan on using it if that's how it works (but I have to save 1 moogle card of each tpye .
well we already know that fusing cards of the same type onto the base card, it gives an experience boost
i think the moogle ones just give more than usual, and for the bonus's needs, it qualifies as an assist card (so fusing it onto assist cards rather than attack cards yields another bonus modifier, if i'm not mistaken)
