Organization XIII
I - Xemnas

"The Superior"

Formerly: Ansem
Weapon/Element: Pair of Red Lightsabers
Nobodies: Sorcerer

Xemnas is the superior of the Organization, number one in rank and in power. He's every bit as ruthless and cold as his former self, Xehanort, who stole Ansem's name and plunged into experiments with darkness that went beyond the borders of sanity. His one true goal is the restoration of Kingdom Hearts by collecting as many hearts as can be found, so that perhaps by combing through the realm of darkness, he can reclaim his own lost heart. He seeks to do this by taking advantage of Sora's rage, and his plan is furthered every time a Heartless falls to Sora's Keyblade. His obsession with Kingdom Hearts and to rid himself of Nobody status is essentially all he can think about.

II - Xigbar

"The Freeshooter"

Formerly: Braig
Weapon/Element: Dual snipers
Nobodies: Sniper

Xigbar is the tough-talking, sarcastic rank number two of the Organization. He's a bit on the lazy side, egging Sora on and then skipping out on his rage. He loves the sound of his own voice, and often will talk an enemy to death rather than finish them off with his deadly sniper guns. He has the ability to teleport and defy gravity, often appearing out of thin air upside-down to take shots. He gets a kick out of confusing Sora by calling him "Roxas", and comments that Roxas used to give him the "same exact look" when Sora scowls at him, suggesting he probably annoyed Sora's nobody as much as he did the Keyblade master himself.

III - Xaldin

"The Whirlwind Lancer"

Formerly: Dilan
Weapon/Element: Five lances/wind
Nobodies: Dragon

Xaldin is one of the biggest and brawniest of XIII, wielding six lances and the element of wind effortlessly. He was sent to retrieve Beast's Heartless and Nobody in Fabled Countryside, one of the only Organization members who directly interfered with "closed" worlds. His influence over the Beast was potent at first, but after forcing him to choose between the enchanted rose and his beloved Belle, he lost all power over the beastly prince.

IV - Vexen

"The Chilly Academic"

Formerly: Even
Weapon/Element: Shield/Ice

Vexen is one of the "seniors" of the Organization, having been a part of it since its foundation. He was based in Castle Oblivion, carrying out nefarious experiments in the castle's many basements. He is most noted for his creation of the Riku Replica, a "toy" fashioned in Riku's likeness and given his old memories and personality. He fought the real Riku to obtain this data, and continued his former self's interest in experiments by carrying out the Organization's research. He seemed to want to throw a wild card into the mix by insinuating to Sora about Roxas' existence, but never succeeded. He also was in on the Castle Oblivion conspiracy, but was in the end killed by Axel on Marluxia's orders, despite pleading for mercy.

V - Lexaeus

"The Silent Hero"

Formerly: Elaeus
Weapon/Element: Giant tomahawk/earth

Lexaeus is also a senior member of the Organization, one who is rather displeased with having to submit to newer members that he deems "beneath" him. In an attempt to wrest control from Marluxia, he plans to abduct Riku as he makes his way up from the castle basements, so as to use him against the conspiracy just as Marluxia plans to take control of Sora. He brandishes a giant tomahawk and can shake the environment he is fighting in with his control over the Earth element.

VI - Zexion

"The Cloaked Schemer"

Formerly: Ienzo
Weapon/Element: Has a weapon, but it has not been revealed

Zexion is the second-youngest member of the Organization, next to Roxas. Despite being so low in the ranks, he is quite possibly one of the more intelligent and deadly of its members. He has an uncanny sense of the darkness, being able to manipulate it to his will and use it as a cloak and disguise against his enemies. He does not like to dirty his hands, relying on his wits and abilities to rid himself of opponents by using their own devices against them. He sought the same end as Lexaeus, leading Riku into a manifestation of Destiny Islands in an attempt to psychologically destroy him to take control of his power. Zexion has a weapon, but no one has ever seen or spoken of it, and great lengths have been taken to destroy any traces of it--even his gravestone in the World that Never Was is smashed to pieces, forever unrecognizable.

VII - Saix

"The Luna Diviner"

Weapon/Element: Claymore/Berserk ability
Nobodies: Berserker

Saix is treated as the true "second-in-command" of XIII, next to Xemnas. He displays a remarkable calm and poise, belying his cold and cruel nature. He uses moonlight and his own abilities to unlock his Berserk state, in which he becomes a deadly and slightly psychotic opponent. He further's Xemnas' plans by effectively "protecting" Sora, appearing more concerned about the boy's well-being than about his dogged pursuit of the renegade Axel. It is he who captures Kairi after she escapes from Axel, and uses it to fuel Sora's rage and collect more hearts into Kingdom Hearts.

VIII - Axel

"The Flurry of
Dancing Flames"

Weapon/Element: Chakrams/fire
Nobodies: Assassin

Axel is the Organization's one "odd duck"--he is a devious, cunning sort who never quite lets on to what side he is with. He is a vicious fighter, using his flaming chakrams and complete control over the element of fire to bring down his enemies. He is the only member from Castle Oblivion who survived after the appearance of Sora and Riku. Thought to be a member of Marluxia's conspiracy to conquer Organization XIII, Axel's betrayals on both sides of the plot led to the deaths of other members and the furthering of his own hidden plans.

Axel's motives become apparent as the story unfolds, and they center around an unlikely occurence within the Organization's ranks: the forming of a close friendship. Roxas, number XIII, and Axel became best friends during their time as members. Roxas' betrayal of the Organization, while expected, threw Axel into a frenzy that would last until his downfall. Desperate to bring his friend back to the Order, Axel infiltrated DiZ's digital Twilight Town to attempt to get Roxas to cooperate with him--but to his disappointment and anger, his best friend had no memory of him. Axel's pursuit becomes even more dogged as the plot thickens, and he will use any means to achieve his ultimate end...to bring Roxas back to safety. Axel loses his ranking as a member at an unknown point, but it can be inferred it was soon after the disasters at Castle Oblivion, and is a wanted man from then on.

IX - Demyx

"The Melodious Nocturne"

Weapon/Element: Sitar/water
Nobodies: Dancer

A rather reluctant and almost "non-agressive" member, Demyx manipulates the Water element by making music with his large sitar. He can create replicas of himself that are easily destroyed, but easily disorient his enemies, and can perform deadly water attacks. He is sent to Olympus to locate Sora and "liberate his true disposition", and thus interferes with the world order by stealing the Olympus Stone. He claims that they "picked the wrong guy", and confides he doesn't exactly enjoy fighting. On the contrary, Demyx displays a rather amiable nature, even when confronting Sora and his companions. However, when the Organization invades Hollow Bastion some time later, the Melodious Nocturne means business...

X - Luxord

"The Gambler
of Fate"

Weapon/Element: Cards/time
Nobodies: Gambler

Luxord, much like Setzer, has a cool and curt manner characteristic of a gambler. His clean-shaven, witty appearance attests to this, as well as his frequent battle stance with his cards. His manipulation of time using the cards causes his opponent to gamble for his life, and the stakes are always high. He is one of the few to directly interfere in a "closed" world, arriving in Port Royal to attempt to use his wits and the curse of the Aztec gold to his advantage. He shares the same, if not more powerful, abilities as his Gambler Nobodies, which he controls.

XI - Marluxia

"The Graceful Assassin"

Weapon/Element: Scythe/earth

Marluxia, the lord of Castle Oblivion, has a cold and inherently devious personality that serves him well in his masked plan to overtake the Organization for his own profit. His battle skills are impressive, one of the more powerful of the Order, and he can summon crescent waves of flower petals that slice through his enemies (in a manner reminiscent of Byakuya Kuchiki, of the anime Bleach). He conspired with Larxene, Axel, and Vexen to attempt to take control of Sora, and thus control the Organization. His plot to use Namine to manipulate Sora failed miserably when Axel set the young witch free, and his plans quickly went to pieces.

XII - Larxene

"The Savage Nymph"

Weapon/Element: Daggers/thunder

Larxene, the only female member of the Organization, holds her own among the men by displaying her savage and sadistic nature. She is quite possibly one of the coldest, unfeeling members, torturing her opponents to their limits. She seems to get along well with Axel. She uses her deadly knives, lightning, and her impressive agility to take the upper hand in battle. She was one of Marluxia's closest conspirators, and her rage only rises when Axel betrays the two of them. She takes particular pleasure in mentally and physically abusing Namine, calling her a "witch". She did not survive Castle Oblivion.

XIII - Roxas

"The Key of Destiny"

Formerly: Sora
Weapon/Element: Two Keyblades (Oathkeeper/Oblivion)/light
Nobodies: Samurai

Roxas is the exception to the rule among all the other Nobodies--his former self lived on after losing his heart to the darkness. Because of this, Roxas retains no memories whatsoever of "being" Sora, mainly because of the circumstances in which he was born. When Sora used the dark Keyblade to strike his own heart and free Kairi's heart from within it, he also sacrificed his own and fell into darkness. As all Nobodies are created, Roxas was born of the empty shell Sora's heart left behind and appeared soon afterward in Twilight Town. However, Kairi's light revived Sora, so Roxas still technically still "has a place", and all the memories of having a heart that should have passed to him stayed with his living counterpart.

Roxas was found by Xemnas in Twilight Town shortly after his birth and was given his name, an anagram of Sora combined with an X. He joined the Organization as "the Key of Destiny", his ability to use the Keyblade being a huge asset to the group, as they wouldn't have to bother manipulating Sora to fill Kingdom Hearts. Soon after his induction, he became best friends with number VIII, Axel. However, as the Organization was unwilling to give him answers he needed (like why he could use the Keyblade, why he thought he could still "feel" even though Nobodies have no emotions), for fear that he'd leave in search of his other self if he knew, Roxas deserted of his own volition. Soon after, he was confronted by Riku, who believed by fighting Roxas, Sora's sleeping memories would finally awaken. Roxas triumphed at first, but after Riku absorbed himself in his own darkness and took on Xehanort's form, Roxas was subdued and dragged into Twilight Town to DiZ.
