First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep (2010) A young man standing on the familiar beach of Destiny Islands remarks to the sun setting over the horizon, "This world is just too small." His ties to this world and its future inhabitants can only begin to grow just as the darkness that envelops the world in the night. Appearing to confront Terra, Aqua and Ventus at the Land of Departure, the Unknown provides a significant challenge for the player as he fights relentlessly, unleashing lightning-quick elemental-based attacks, some of which appear similar to techniques demonstrated later on by members of Organization XIII. |

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep (2010) A young man who first begins to taunt Sora and Riku immediately upon their journey through the Sleeping Worlds. Wherever he shows up, another form of Xehanort seems to follow, and his cruel and enigmatic words begin to throw Sora and Riku into doubt. Soon, Riku and Sora begin to realize that they've been thrown off their inteded course. Upon sealing the Keyholes, Sora and Riku find themselves in the empty domain formerly of the Organization, the World that Never Was. Here they learn the truth: this mysterious young man is Master Xehanort from the distant past, before he inherited a Keyblade. Xehanort was granted the power to travel across time from his older Heartless self - the brown-robed Ansem Seeker of Darkness. Xehanort's task was to bob and weave across time and space, and using the Sleeping Realm as a conduit, gather 12 different iterations of himself to the World That Never Was, to watch as the most recent version of himself - the recompleted Master Xehanort, returned to the world. Xehanort's goal is to reforge the X-Blade, which shattered into 20 pieces: seven of light and thirteen of darkness. By emulating those pieces and having them clash, Xehanort hopes to forge the X-Blade and open the door to the true Kingdom Hearts. There is only one seat left to fill for Xehanort's Darknesses, and Sora's doubting heart is the perfect candidate. Riku and Mickey try to intercept Sora from all of the Xehanorts' grasp, but are powerless to stop him from splitting his heart and imbibing Sora with it. But, just before Sora can become one of Xehanort's vessels, Lea, the recompleted Axel, saves him. At this point, all the Xehanorts who have traveled across time and space begin to dim and return from wence they came. Master Xehanort doesn't seem bothered and replies that all the pieces are fated to come together and that they will all meet again. Young Xehanort returns to the past, and his memory of these events are wiped from his mind. His heart, however, still has these experiences ingrained upon it and he knows that they will lead him to his destiny. |
