As Number VI, Lexaeus is a founding member of Organization XIII along with Xemnas, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen and Zexion, though he is no senior member. Strong, reliable and as stalwart as his earthly element, he is sent to Castle Oblivion with Zexion to observe the goings-on inside as soon once Castle Lord Marluxia and his partner-in-crime Larxene begin to show signs of revolt against the Organization. To get a better idea of what Marluxia and Larxene are up to, Lexaeus and Zexion enlist the help of Vexen, who is also at the castle. Not long after Lexaeus discovers that Marluxia is using Sora for power and decides to do the same thing with Riku.

Vexen soon sets to work on making a replica of Riku but his work is interrupted by his death at the hands of sneaky Axel, leaving the replica incomplete and in search of a heart. Here, Lexaeus takes matters into his own hands and challenges the replica. When the replica is unmoving towards Lexaeus' suggestions of giving into the darkness to utilize his full power, Lexaeus decides to destroy him. He almost succeeds; he knocks the replica unconscious but the blow unlocks the replica's full power in the form of a heart-lurking Xehanort's Heartless, also known as Ansem Seeker of Darkness. Here, at the hands of the powerful monster, Lexaeus realizes that he messed with the wrong person. After a swift, sentimental apology to his ‘best friend' Zexion, Lexaeus fades away.

By far the most physically strong of Organization XIII, Lexaeus is also strangely by far the quietest. Lexaeus is as loyal and sturdy as the earth itself, whose element he masters under the title of the Silent Hero. His stalwart build does nothing to demonstrate his extreme strength in battle, where he wields a massive tomahawk to do away with his opponents. It is said that he has a good rapport with Zexion, apparently being the only one that Zexion trusts; like Zexion, he is also very intelligent, and his presence is felt by his habit of only speaking when the need calls. During his time at The World That Never Was, it is Lexaeus who teaches Roxas about Limit Breaks and how to use them to survive battles when health is low. His teachings were invaluable, but he was a part of the group sent off to Castle Oblivion by Saïx, where he met his fate at the mercy of Riku.

Lexaeus is a lot like his attribute, earth; it isn't wrong to assume he is as stalwart as the earth, too, since this member boasts excellent defence and health that not even a freight train could affect, with an impressive attack to boot that would render you crippled should you have the misfortune to come under the bone-crushing blow of his axe sword, Skysplitter. Even though his downfall is his excruciatingly slow speed and lack of potent magic, Lexaeus overcomes his hindrance when he unleashes his full power during his Limit Break, Ayers Rock. In this state, Lexaeus slams and pounds at the foe at hand with a fully-mutated Skysplitter made entirely of rock, sending those daring enough flying in every direction.
